About the Thorold Anchors

Thorold Fantoms (1985-2018)

Thorold Anchors (2019- Present)

The Thorold Anchors are a community baseball team that competes in the Niagara District Baseball Association Senior Men's Baseball League. The franchise is rich in history and legacy with many famous Thorold baseball players once donning the uniform.

The team began play 1985 as the Thorold Fantoms, sponsored by a local manufacturing business at the time, and went on to win the 1995 Ontario Provincial "D" Championships and most recently the 2022 OBA "C" Provincial Championship. The team annually competes and represents the City of Thorold in the provincial playdowns including hosting the championships at McMillan Park in 2018, 2019, & 2021. The team will also host "A" Championships in 2024.

Due to the fact that the community had long been removed from the days of Fantom Manufacturing, the team went through a rebrand prior to the 2019 season to better acclimate the team name to the City. The world famous Welland Canal runs through the city and the Flight Locks which enable the ships to climb the mountain can be observed in the distance in right field as ships proceed through them. The team has called McMillan Park home for the entire existance of the franchise and looks forward to continuing to call the park home for the future.
