Weekly Recap: Anchors Split Games
6/8/2026by Brett Scott

It was an up and down week for the Thorold Anchors as they split a pair of games against the Beamsville Yellow Jackets and the Niagara Falls Expos.

Tuesday night in Thorold saw the Anchors drop a 10-1 decision to the first place Yellow Jackets. Beamsville scored a run in the top of the second inning on an Erik Williston double that scored Zac Decker.

Thorold tied the game in the bottom of the second when Drew Timlock deposited an 0-2 curveball from starter Tyler Wood over the right centrefield fence for his first home run of the season. It was a closely contested matchup until Beamsville scored two in the fifth and pulled away late by putting up seven runs in the seventh inning to make the final 10-1.

Tyler Wood picked up the complete game victory for Beamsville collecting 13 strikeouts giving up two hits and just the one run on the Timlock homer. Andrew D’Angelo picked up the loss giving up five runs (two earned) while striking out four Yellow Jackets. The game also saw the Anchors debut for pitcher DJ Kuijer who picked up a strikeout in her debut.

Thorold got into the win column for the first time this season in a big way on Friday night in Niagara Falls by picking up a 16-4 victory over the Expos.

The offensive onslaught began in the top of the first inning with Thorold jumping on starter CJ Bain putting up five runs in the frame. Dalton Procyshyn set the tone for the night battling through an eight pitch at bat with a lead off walk. Dylan Dempsey and Drew Timlock followed with base hits in the inning and Dan Smith, Tony Brown and Jacob Turner contributed runs batted in.

The Expos scratched across two runs in the bottom of the inning off of starter Ben Dobrowolski but Thorold would get back on the sticks in the second tacking on three more runs and added a further six in the third to remove any doubt about how the game would end as the lead was pushed out to 14-2 after three innings.

Dobrowolski pitched a complete game throwing five innings giving up four runs while walking one and striking out seven. Bain took the loss for the Expos going two innings giving up eight runs (six earned) walking three Anchors while striking out one.

Offensive leaders for Thorold included Dalton Procyshyn with three hits and three runs scored, Max Dobrowolski with two hits, three runs scored and three rbi, and Kyle D’Angela who collected his first hit since August 10th, 2021 going 2 for 2 with three rbi.

The Anchors will be back in action on Tuesday night at McMillan Park against the 4-0 Welland Pioneers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
