Anchors sunk by 6 Run 2nd Inning
A six run two out rally in the second inning from the Cannons (3-1) was the catalyst in an 8-1 defeat Wednesday night at Oakes Park in Fort Erie.
The highlight of the night for the Anchors (1-3) came in the top of the sixth when Max Dobrowolski hit a line drive opposite field home run over the right centerfield fence for his first career home run with the franchise.
Nick Gambell (0-1) took the loss for Thorold pitching two-thirds of an inning and allowing four runs, two hits and two walks with one strikeout.
Randy Kraneyk (1-0) got the win for Fort Erie pitching six strong innings scattering 10 hits and a walk while striking out three while only allowing the solo home run from Dobrowolski.
Thorold returns to action on Tuesday night at home against the Niagara Falls Expos (0-2) for the first time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
