We asked Drew Timlock the following questions:
What was your first full season like as an Anchor?
My first full season was an absolute blast, getting to know all the guys and being accepted into the family that is the Anchors was one of the best sport experiences I’ve had. We definitely had our ups and downs but it was such a fun year and I really felt welcomed into the team and can’t wait for year two.
What are your Teammates and Coaches like?
The Anchors coaching staff really helped me settle in as a fresh faced rookie and helped me know all the guys around me. Along with that they elevated my comfort to a much higher level which had a huge impact on me and how I played. This team is full of great guys who play with heart and care about everyone around them. Being a rookie I didn’t really know anyone or how the team operated but the guys pulled me in and got me up to speed real fast and I see them all as family now.
Any favorite moments from the 2023 season?
My favourite moment would probably be our first win of the year. Tuesday night at home, huge win over the pioneers, everyone was firing on all cylinders and it was a great night for all of us, it also marked my first win as a member of the Anchors.
What is it like playing in front of the home Thorold crowd on Tuesday nights in the summer?
Tuesday nights at McMillan make you feel at home, bright lights, music playing, the boys clapping, everything is just amazing. That feeling of the crowd behind you just feels incredible and you feel like it’s your town.
What are your expectation or predications for this team for 2024?
I predict the Anchors to be a .500 ball club this upcoming year, we all had ups and downs throughout the year plus we had 3 or 4 rookies. We were trying to get our feet in the ground so we could play up the level of vets around us and do our part for success and I fully believe we can do that this season.
