We asked Coach Chris the following questions:
What does the Anchors Spring Training look like for you?
It's going to be good to get the boys back together for Spring Training. Camaraderie is always a big thing in spring and I think building back up that baseball repetition and muscle memory is also big for spring training, then once the fields open up taking it to the next level.
Were you satisfied with last season and what are your expectations of the upcoming season?
We played some real tight ball games last year, hard not to be satisfied with the fight, determination, and commitment of the guys. Coming off a year where we won the OBA's, there were a lot of guys who took a big step forward and although the wins weren't always there I think there was a lot to be encouraged about. 3 wins over the NDBA and Ontario A Champions is something to build off of for sure. As for this year, same thing. Expecting some guys to take a step forward in their game and leadership is going to help us be in every game and if you're in every game, results will come.
Who will be the key players for the Anchors infield this year?
When you talk infield, I think you look at a guy like Dalton Procyshyn. The tools that he possesses are off the charts and I think anytime you take time off from baseball you're going to see an adjustment period when you come back. Even with that Dalton was a key reliable contributor last year, so I'm excited to see where he can take this team with another year in his return under his belt.
What do you do as a coach to get ready for the season?
Evaluate what the team needs and wants. At the end of the day its a team led program so as a team - and that includes the players and captains of course - do we want to be more agressive on the bases, do we want to put more plays on during at bats, or less, things like that so the team functions as a unit.
